OxyFlow 5L Home Oxygen Concentrator – Buy Outright in South Africa
The OxyFlow 5L home oxygen concentrator (Sanrai International’s OxyFlow 5) is a stationary 5-litre unit in our home oxygen concentrator range. It draws in room air, separates out the nitrogen and delivers concentrated oxygen through a nasal cannula at a steady, adjustable flow of up to 5 litres per minute. Because it makes oxygen from the air around it, there are no cylinders to refill or exchange – it simply needs a power point.
This listing is for a new OxyFlow 5 machine to purchase. Limitless Health also offers the same model on a monthly OxyFlow 5L rental plan if you only need oxygen for a short period.
Why choose the OxyFlow 5?
- Proven design. The OxyFlow 5 has been used in homecare and clinical settings around the world for many years and is one of the models we know best – we service and rent this exact machine ourselves.
- Quiet. At 45 dB(A) or less it is among the quieter 5-litre concentrators available, which matters when the machine runs next to a bed all night.
- Easy to move. At 14.2 kg on castor wheels it can be rolled from room to room without help.
- Straightforward controls. A power switch, a flow meter and a small set of indicator lights – nothing complicated to learn.
- Low running cost. A rated power draw of 300 W means it uses roughly the electricity of a few household light bulbs while it runs.
- Consumables are easy to get. We stock the OxyFlow M50 intake filter, cannulas, tubing and humidifier bottles.
Continuous-flow performance
The OxyFlow 5 is a continuous-flow concentrator, not a pulse-dose unit. Oxygen flows constantly at the rate set on the flow meter, whether you are breathing through your nose or mouth, awake or asleep. The flow meter adjusts up to a maximum of 5 L/min, which covers the settings most commonly prescribed for home oxygen. Your prescribed flow rate should always be set according to your doctor’s or respiratory specialist’s instructions.
Oxygen purity and monitoring
Sanrai rates the OxyFlow 5 at 93% ± 3% oxygen purity (up to 96%) across its flow range. An integrated low-oxygen-concentration alarm warns you if purity falls below the acceptable level – for example when the intake filter is blocked – so you are not left guessing whether the machine is performing properly.
Safety and alarm features
The OxyFlow 5 has four alarms:
- Low oxygen concentration – purity has dropped below specification
- High temperature – the unit is overheating (usually blocked ventilation)
- Power failure – mains power has been lost while the machine was running, which is especially useful during load shedding
- Maintenance reminder – the machine is due for a service
For advice on keeping oxygen going during power cuts, read our guide to using oxygen concentrators during outages.
Ease of use and maintenance
Set-up takes a few minutes: fit the humidifier bottle if your doctor has recommended humidified oxygen, connect the cannula, plug in and switch on. Routine care is limited to rinsing the foam intake filter and keeping the cabinet dust-free. Sanrai recommends periodic servicing; the maintenance alarm tells you when that is due, and Limitless Health can carry out the service for you. Our home oxygen machine maintenance guide explains the basics.

OxyFlow 5 – frequently asked questions
Is the OxyFlow 5 a continuous-flow oxygen concentrator?
Yes. It delivers a constant flow of oxygen at the rate set on the flow meter, up to 5 L/min. It does not use pulse-dose delivery.
How much oxygen can the OxyFlow 5 provide?
Up to 5 litres per minute at 93% ± 3% purity. If your prescription calls for more than 5 L/min, look at a 10-litre machine such as the DeVilbiss Compact 1025.
Does the OxyFlow need oxygen cylinder refills?
No. A concentrator produces oxygen from room air for as long as it has electricity, so there is nothing to refill. Many customers keep a small cylinder as a backup for power cuts.
How loud is the OxyFlow 5?
Sanrai rates it at 45 dB(A) or less – roughly the level of a quiet conversation or a modern fridge.
Can the OxyFlow 5 run overnight?
Yes. The OxyFlow 5L home oxygen concentrator is designed for 24-hour operation. Keep it at least a few centimetres away from walls and curtains so air can circulate, and follow your doctor’s guidance on overnight oxygen use. See our article on using an oxygen concentrator while sleeping.
What is the difference between buying and renting the OxyFlow 5?
Buying suits long-term use; renting suits short-term or uncertain needs. Both use the same machine. Compare the rental listing or ask us which works out better for you.
Does Limitless Health deliver in South Africa?
Yes – delivery is free nationwide, and collection is available in Fourways, Johannesburg.
Important information about oxygen use
Oxygen concentrators are medical devices. The OxyFlow 5 does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition; it supplies oxygen at the flow rate set by the user. Oxygen therapy, including the flow rate and hours of use, should be prescribed and supervised by a healthcare professional. Never smoke or allow open flames near oxygen equipment, and keep the machine away from heat sources. If you are unsure whether the OxyFlow 5L home oxygen concentrator suits your prescription, contact us and we will help you check the specifications against your doctor’s requirements.
